Don’t put too many layers of clothes on your kid. Just make it one more than you would wear yourself. Otherwise you will just make them sweat. Using the right fabrics will help, avoid cotton, use polyester and wool instead. Protect the skin Even if you can’t feel the sun heat as much as in summer, its rays are still dangerous. Add wind and cold, and you and your kid will get irritated red skin. Don’t forget to apply special cream before going out. Make sure equipment is safe Before you go skiing, skating, or sledding, don’t forget to check that the equipment is safe and free of cracks and nails. Secure the sharp blades before you reach the destination. Watch out for icicles If you play in the park, watch out for big icicles hanging from the trees. Also, be careful on the way to the park when you walk under the roofs. Drink water If you don’t feel thirst as much as you do in summer time, it doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need water. Actually, during winter time our body dehydrates a lot so it can warm up. So don’t forget to fill your water bottle. Avoid frostbite If you feel you have a frostbite, go inside immediately and never put your hands in the hot water. Use warm water instead, or put your hands and feet against something warm. Make the blood go to the affected area by wiggling it as much as possible. Call a doctor if needed.
