Blackjack is one of the most fun and competitive card games. The reason why it’s so popular is that it’s easy to grasp how the game works at first and the rest is all up to luck and common sense. Today we dive into the rules of Blackjack so that next time you happen to drop by a casino or a deck of cards is flashed at a social gathering, you’ll know what you’re doing. The objective of Blackjack
The objective of the game is to draw your cards as close to 21 as possible without actually going over 21. You need to be closer to 21 than the dealer in order to not lose your bets. At a real casino, there is a cardholder called the shoe, which the dealer uses to slide cards out from. Each 2-9 card is worth their point value. Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings are 10 points each and an Ace is 1 or 11 points. For example, if a player has a Queen and a 5, it equals 15 points. The player that has 2 cards equaling 21 has a Blackjack. Basic Blackjack rules If you’re playing at a real casino, there is usually a sign telling you the minimum and maximum bet amount. Usually, bets start at $10-15 but you’ll have to double check with the table or the online casino. The dealer begins by dealing everyone 2 cards each (face up). The dealer himself starts with one card facing down. The dealer will go around the group dealing cards, you can choose to hit or keep your cards as they are. The closer you edge to 21, the riskier the game becomes. If you get over 21 points, you lose your bet money. Additionally, you can increase your bet throughout the game if you’re feeling lucky. There is also an option to split if you have matching cards. The dealer will go around until everyone is happy with his or her numbers and then he will deal his hand. The deciding losers and winners are determined based on the dealer’s hand.
