Walk Along the Southbank The Southbank is a heavily pedestrianised stretch bang smack on the river Thames’ south side at the centre of London. It takes in stunning attractions like the Royal Festival Hall, the London Eye, and the Hayward Gallery. Of particular interest is the Tate Modern art gallery, that exhibits the best of art from the Twentieth Century and beyond. There’s a free permanent collection that also holds works from noted talent such as Francis Bacon. 4. Visit the British Museum
London has an abundance of world-class museums like the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, but best of all of them is the British Museum. It’s filled to the brim with stunning relics of antiquity, and the majority of the exhibits are available to view for free. 3. Have a Drink in Soho As well as, or because of, being the gay district in London, Soho represents the heart and soul of the city’s nightlife. There’s a range of charming bars, pubs and clubs where the great and good get in their cups, with an atmosphere that’s hard to beat. 2. Take in a Show The West End is home to dozens of historic theatres putting on the best theatre and musicals in the worlds to packed crowds nightly. Only Broadway in New York can touch the West End for theatrical prestige. Try and grab dinner and a show while in town, and keep an eye out for cheap tickets when buying on the day. 1. Visit Hampstead Heath Hampstead is one of the most picturesque boroughs of London, and the mighty heath dominates the area. It’s a large space with terrific elevated views allowing visitors to look down upon the rest of the fair city.
