Criticisms are negative feedbacks given to you by other people. Criticisms mostly hurt and discourage a person, but it’s actually up to you if you are going to let it affect you negatively or if you are going to use it to your advantage. Here’s how. Control your Emotions
Once criticism is given, take a deep breath and calm down. Do not let your emotions take its toll and make you react negatively towards the person. Reacting emotionally to criticism is more embarrassing than just smiling at it. The more you react, the more it will come your way. Reflect on it Take time to ponder on the criticism given to you. Is it true about you? If it isn’t true, then there is no need to feel hurt. Who gave the criticism? Is it your friends? Family? Your boss? Or a total stranger? If it is someone from your family and true friends, they may have really good intentions. If it is someone you look up to like your boss, maybe you should also consider why you were given the criticism. In other words, learn to find something good in the bad. Learn to know which criticisms are given with good intention and those that are just given to put you down. Realize that you Cannot Please Everybody If you have done your best in something and you still get criticized, don’t take it personally. Just remember that you cannot please everybody. Instead, use the criticism given with good intentions to improve and ignore the ones given just to hurt you. Remember that even the most successful people in history got their fair share of criticisms, but they became successful because they never thought of them as a personal attack but a potent force that push them towards their goals.
